Zenith was founded in 1865 in Le Locle, Switzerland by Georges Favre-Jacot, who unusually brought every step of watchmaking under one roof rather than relying on outside suppliers (établissage). The brand is best known for the El Primero, introduced in 1969 as one of the first automatic chronograph movements and still produced, in updated form, today.
