Urwerk was founded in Geneva in 1997 by watchmaker Felix Baumgartner and artist/designer Martin Frei. The brand reinvented time display with its "satellite" wandering-hour mechanisms — rotating cubes that sweep over an arced minute scale — and is considered one of the pioneers of the modern independent watchmaking movement.
