Switzerland
Rado traces to 1917, when the Schlup brothers founded a movement-manufacturing business in Lengnau, Switzerland, adopting the Rado brand name for finished watches in 1957. The brand became known for pioneering scratchproof materials, launching the hardened-steel DiaStar "the first unscratchable watch" in 1962 and later high-tech ceramic cases.
