Oris was founded in 1904 in Hölstein, Switzerland by Paul Cattin and Georges Christian, taking its name from a nearby stream. One of the last major independent, family-run Swiss watch brands, it has remained committed to mechanical-only watchmaking since dropping quartz production in the 1980s, and is known for dive watches like the Aquis.
