Audemars Piguet was founded in 1875 in Le Brassus, Switzerland, by childhood friends Jules Louis Audemars and Edward Auguste Piguet. Still partly owned by descendants of its founders, it is one of the "Holy Trinity" of haute horlogerie and introduced the Royal Oak in 1972 — Gérald Genta's steel luxury sports watch design that reshaped the industry.
