Founded in 1845 in Glashütte, Saxony by Ferdinand Adolph Lange, A. Lange & Söhne helped establish German precision watchmaking before being shut down after WWII under Soviet occupation. Ferdinand's great-grandson Walter Lange revived the brand in 1990 after German reunification, and it is now renowned for in-house movements with hand-engraved balance cocks and the German silver three-quarter plate.
